Naturally Supernatural

The need to understand who a Christian really is, is more important now than ever before. Gone are the days we could rest assured, live on the faith of our fathers. Passive Christianity has its place in the myriad mortuaries of this world. Cold dead in its stance, it struggles to be resuscitated and first aid can only slap a bandage on a cancer that has been killing the church of Jesus Christ from the inside.

As Christians we don’t understand who we really are. We look to the world and we try to identify ourselves by their dictates trying to fit into a world, that, as the Master said “Seeing don’t perceive and hearing don’t understand” the spiritual precepts that govern the cosmos. Everything around us is programmed to take away any and all spiritual inclinations that we may have naturally, branding them as non-scientific, superstition and plain old foolish. As beloved, Paul in his letter to the Corinthians writes,

20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.[1Cor 1:20-29]

Our education system where we spent the majority of our formation years are not equipped to teach on spiritual aspects to a triune being who is more than just grey cells masqueraded by flesh and bones. The world systems and its understanding cannot see beyond the physical and the natural. And they spend every resource in its availability to quantify and qualify in the name of progress and science but missing the whole point of all this meaningless pursuit. There is a new frontier to be explored everyday for them in this endless ocean of meaningless pursuit which in itself has become a means to an end of which the great Apostle admonishes Timothy “Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth”. Because what you see is not the only truth.

Understanding of the Triune system

The bible teaches us that we are a triune being consisting of Spirit, soul and body.

23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. [1Th 5:23]

Each of these parts function  on a specific plane or realm and the whole work together to promote our well being. Imagine travelling back in time 3000 years with your car(back to the future!!). The people would see the exterior of the car. But if they never understood the whole working of the car, its engine, fuel injection system, computer and electronic systems,and even have means to oil exploration, drilling and refining all they would be able to do would be repair some dents on the car. Even then the paint work would be a mess. The only thing left for many people back then would be to carry around this miracle and worship it daily because they did not understand it. Then the Aristotle’s and the Plato’s would come and philosophise the car for the rest of us. Some would probably open the door and sit inside, feel its upholstery, run their hands around the steering wheel much like many of us go to churches today. We don’t understand the power that the car is capable of. We don’t know how to use the car. We only sit in awe worshipping the exterior.  Religion without spirituality. Worship without power. This is the sad story of many of our churches today. All because we don’t understand that God is a spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.

The human being is a spirit being. This is who he really is. He has a physical body and a soul. The physical body is what we see. The physical body functions in the 3 Dimensional physical world. The body has senses that enable us to survive in the physical world. It receives its input from the five senses.

The soul comprises of our will, intellect and emotions. This pretty much makes up our identity of who we are and how we respond to ourselves and the world.What scientist call the conscious mind is what makes up the soul. The soul has inherent powers of its own and function from a plane called the mental plane. Scientists are discovering that our thoughts have power and give shape to our lives and directs our future.

But what we have least understood is the spirit. The spirit holds limitless potentials only limited by our ignorance. The spirit functions from a spiritual plane and of the three planes or realms the spirit realm supersedes the other two realms within it. Therefore anything that affects a person in the spirit will influence the body and soul. This is a primary understanding for operating in the supernatural. If we have the ability to manipulate and control the spiritual realm to our advantage and favour, we can change our circumstances and our challenges to our favour.

Many go to church today as a routine or habit. Some go for entertainment. Some for socialising and fellowship. Few for the studious pursuit of head knowledge information. And fewer for spiritual knowledge. The Master said like this, “ And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” True spiritual knowledge is at the heart of a relationship with God.

The bible says

17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. [2Cor 5:17]

The new creation is not an ordinary human. The new creation may look ordinary to the ordinary eyes but the new creation is a supernatural being created in the very image of God. The new creation is a new kind of species that never existed before Jesus Christ, who is the first born of this kind, when He was resurrected from the dead.

Jesus did not come to make a religion. Jesus came to establish a new life. Jesus said “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” This life is not ordinary human life. No. This is the very life pulsating in the creator. Jesus came to give us that kind of life. An eternal life. An eternal being that is capable of living and functioning out of the spirit realm.

There are only two kinds of spiritual nature. One divine, the other satanic. One is called light, the other dark. One is called Life, the other Death. Life has a corresponding attribute – Love. And death has a corresponding attribute – selfishness. Jesus came to give us that Life. The Life that Jesus carried is called Zoe in greek. It is eternal Life. The God kind of life. The very Life that God has in Him. That is the very life from which all things seen and unseen came into being. That very Life was in the Master. And He came that we may have an abundance of that Life. God saw that mankind was tormented by death. Darkness reigned in man.

that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.[1Pet 2:9]

God shows us the true condition of the natural man

1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. [Eph 2:1-3]

He says the natural man is dead.John 5:24 gives us a better picture

24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life

Death is the satanic nature, or Spiritual death. Life is Eternal Life or the Divine nature. Jesus did not mince words when he called the Jews children of the devil.

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own:for he is a liar, and the father of it. [John 8:44-45]

The natural man is distinctly different from the New Creation.

For we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus. [Eph 2:!0

that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.[1Pet 2:9]

When God chose us in Christ, He called us with a calling to show forth the excellence of God. He called us as demonstration prototypes of His goodness. He chose us so that, when natural people would look upon us, they would see the greatness and praise of Him. Wow. When natural people look at a New Creation, they would be in so much awe that they would sit up to consider the superiority of the Maker, and they too would be drawn towards this kind of Life. That is the kind of Life we have inside us.

That is why John said “Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world”. We have the ability of God inside us. The bible further says “Of His fullness have we received” and “ And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; …they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

We are the answer to this  world’s problem. We can lay hands on the sick and they shall be  healed. We can command chains to be broken and chains of poverty, addiction, sin, heaviness, despair, meaninglessness, etc shall be broken. We are the light to this dark world. We are naturally Supernatural.
